WeightWatchers reviews £9m European media task

LONDON – WeightWatchers has called a review of its £9m media planning and buying business across 12 European markets and has invited four agencies to pitch.

Carat, Mediacom, Mediaedge:cia and ZenithOptimedia have been shortlisted for the review, which is being handled by the AAR. The pitches will take place this month and a decision is expected in September.

WeightWatchers said it wanted to consolidate the account into one agency following a creative review for continental Europe, which resulted in the appointment of Publicis and FCB.

The UK media account, held by Carat, is not affected by the review. The brand is managed by WeightWatchers UK, a separate company, in Britain.
