The company has paid "an undisclosed substantial six-figure sum" for these brands, which have been recently generating a turnover of over 拢2.2m a year for Wegener and 2m leads for advertisers.
The purchase also includes a database of 1.3m proven mail order responsive consumers. Combined with its existing card decks and catalogues, RDP will now have an annual turnover of over 拢11m, a 2.5m name database and is expected to generate more than 5m leads a year.
Charles Boliston, RDP managing director, said: "While we have been growing market share by competitive selling and generating quality enquiries for our clients, Wegener has been investing heavily in improving the databases for these brands. Now we can reap the benefits of the investment and rebuild these strong products."
RDP said it was looking for "further compatible acquisitions". The firm increased turnover last year to over 拢11m and is now generating 5m consumer leads a year.
The firm said it was expecting to continue at 20% in 2005 as more businesses demand predictable ROI from their budgets.
Boliston said: "Wegener had recently done a tremendous amount of work on its data, and had improved the quality of the databases dramatically. Now with the benefit of the RDP publishing skills and operational processes, our clients will be able to benefit from a step change in performance level."
