The event, which featured acts including Elbow, Jessie J and Bruce Springsteen, was hit by unrelenting run of cloudbursts turning it into a mud bath and causing all sorts of travel chaos.
Organisers have put on a fleet of 4x4's and tractors to help revellers get their cars out of the mud and on thier way.
The festival wasn’t the only one to be blighted by the bad weather this weekend. The second day of Live from Jodrell Bank in Cheshire headlined by Paul Weller was called off yesterday (24 June) after the site was deemed unfit for the crowds.
Jon Drape the gig’s event director and head of agency Ear to the Ground said the site experienced a month’s rainfall in 24 hours. "Despite the best efforts of our site crew and subcontractors overnight the main event arena and car parks we are unable to deliver the concert safely," he said. Ticket holders were told they would get a full refund.
In Liverpool Africa Oye, an event celebrating African music and culture from 23-24 June, was cancelled at the last minute after organisers were unable to erect the stage under the harsh conditions.
And in Blackpool, the concert to mark the arrival of the Olympic Torch Relay on Friday (22 June) had to be moved indoors to avoid torrential rain and winds of up to 50mph.
With more rain forecast for later this week there are concerns Wimbledon, which starts today (25 June), may be hit.
