The Week: Media news - Readers of quality titles up

Daily quality national newspapers have seen their readerships increase in the current financial downturn, in contrast to the mid-market titles, according to the National Readership Survey.

The NRS poll found that The Guardian, the Financial Times and The Times had all recorded an increase of between 3 to 5 per cent, year on year, to September. This is in contrast to drops of 16 per cent for the Daily Star, 7 per cent for the News of the World and 6 per cent for the Daily Mirror in the same period.
