Waterstone's in loyalty card trial

LONDON - Waterstone's is planning to launch a loyalty card and is piloting the scheme in 12 stores in the South-West.

The HMV-owned chain intends to use the data from the scheme to provide insights into the demographics of its customers and help it to target more men.

The retailer is seeking a direct agency to handle the launch of the scheme, which, if successful, will be rolled out nationally. The agency search is being handled be Waterstone's marketing manager Annie Gallimore.

Cardholders will receive Waterstone's books, a quarterly magazine, special offers, such as titles for £1.99, invitations to seasonal shopping evenings and email book reviews.
