Watch Wieden & Kennedy's follow-up to 'cog'

LONDON - Wieden & Kennedy missed out on the film Grand Prix at this year's Cannes International Advertising Festival for its groundbreaking 'cog' ad for Honda -- nevertheless, following it up was never going to be an easy task, writes Jennifer Whitehead.

This next spot, "sense", is similarly oblique as "cog", with a host of scenes that, on first impression, have little to do with cars. The ad promotes Honda's energy-saving engine technology by showing people carrying on normal daily tasks while lights, taps and a gas cooker all respond by only working when needed.

The 60-second spot ends with another voiceover by Garrison Keillor, this time saying: "If things knew when they weren't being used, wouldn't we save a whole load of energy?"

The ad was written by Tom Chancellor and Kim Papworth, art direction was by John Cherry and Tony Davidson. Direction was by Peter Thwaites at Gorgeous.
