The guide, which will be published on Monday October 10, will explain the new format to readers of the paper's international editions and is being produced in the same format as the new compact version.
It will contain many of the design elements that will appear in the new-look newspaper and features a front-page letter from Wall Street Journal publisher Karen Elliott House. The letter highlights how the new compact will be more convenient for readers.
The compact version of the paper will appear on newsstands from October 17. Changes include a blend of in-depth journalism and shorter news articles; new headline styles and typeface; increased use of colour; and links from the paper to its online edition.
In addition, Personal Journal, the weekly lifestyle and leisure section published on Fridays, is being renamed Weekend Journal.
"[Readers] will find many of the hallmark features of the Journal that they love are still there, but in a fresher, more accessible format," Raju Narisetti, editor of The Wall Street Journal Europe, said.
