Walkers unveils Leicester's Cheese & Chive crisps

LONDON – Walkers is building on its long-standing relationship with Gary Lineker by launching a limited-edition flavour of crisps bearing the name of the football team with which he is most identified, Leicester City.

Walkers Leicester's Cheese & Chive flavour is now on sale in the area, featuring the players Muzzy Izzet and Jordan Stewart on the packet, along with the team's logo and colours and a quote from Lineker.

Walkers has manufactured 700,000 packets of these crisps, to be sold over the next 12 weeks.

Lineker has long been the face of Walkers and at one stage was also the name -- at least for Salt & Lineker flavour.

Though his deal with Walkers has earned him a fortune and sold millions of packets of crisps, it has also drawn criticism from pressure group The Food Commission, which has branded him the most greedy celebrity.

According to former England captain Lineker: "Two of my favourite things joined together: Walkers Crisps and the best football club in the world. Enjoy the season."

Leicester City makes its return to the Premiership this season. Lineker, a former City player, led a consortium that bought the club from administrators Deloitte & Touche in February this year.
