The Volvo Sailing Academies programme has been extended to Cowes Week this year, which kicks off on 8 August on the Isle of Wight.
The one-day academy will offer people the chance to learn how to sail, paddle board or go sea kayaking with 'Team Volvo’, which includes top British athletes and members of the British Sailing team.
The academies were first launched in 2013 to continue the brand’s work with the 2012 London Olympics to encourage more people to get into the sport.
The initiative also offers visitors the chance to test drive the latest Volvo vehicles.
Nikki Rooke, head of corporate communications, events and sponsorship at Volvo Car UK, said: "Volvo’s sailing sponsorship ranges from the introductory Optimist Class right up to the British Sailing Team and also encompasses hobby classes.
"Sailing Academies support this grassroots to glory strategy by encouraging more people into the sport. Through the relationship we have with the British Sailing Team we can offer customers and prospects a unique opportunity to have their first sailing experience or to pick up tips from our country’s top athletes."
The scheme is supported by RS Sailing, a company that designs and builds sailboats and dinghies; local sailing clubs and the Royal Yachting Association’s Push the Boat Out event in May, which offers sailing taster sessions.
Cowes Week runs from 8-15 August.
