
Plink's first product was called PlinkArt, a mobile app which scrutinises pictures of well-known paintings and artworks, and identifies them.
Users can then share those photos with friends. Plink claims to have registered 50,000 users in just under four weeks.
The company's two founders, Mark Cummins and James Philbin, are joining Google to work on search company's visual search applications, including Google Goggles.
Google has previously stated that it is aiming to buy a minimum of one company a month as it looks to expand rapidly.
No financial details of the deal have been disclosed.
