The agency hopes that a poor start to Britain's summer tourist season, due to bad weather and flooding, can be amended through the campaign.
VisitBritain has launched a website, www.britainsviews.com, which shows the 16 views featured in the series and 45 others which it believes represents the different landscapes of Britain.
Britain's Favourite View's four week run starts on ITV1 on Sunday and involves celebrities picking their favourite scenic spots throughout the country. Sir Ranulph Fiennes, footballer Jamie Redknapp and politician Charles Kennedy have signed up to star in the show, which will be presented by Sir Trevor McDonald.
The climax of the show will see the 16 views put to the public vote to find the nation's favourite.
