
The original short film, titled ‘J'aime La Tour' was watched by 62,870 viewers on YouTube. It showed a young couple sharing a day trip in what appeared to be Paris. However, it turned out to be a Lancashire lad and a French girl who had fallen in love in Blackpool.
The second part of Valerie and Frank's story will debut online this week. This time the couple share a night out in Blackpool, which is depicts the seaside town as a romantic get-away.
Peter Mearns, executive director of marketing and communications at the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA), which was also involved in creating the viral, said: ‘Blackpool is changing and we hope that this new film will encourage more people to discover the new Blackpool. With the Illuminations in full swing and the school holiday crowds abating, it's the perfect time for a romantic short break in the resort.'
The film was commissioned by visitBlackpool, the NWDA and Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board. It was produced by SKV Communications and written by SKV's Daniel Kennedy.
The town is undergoing a major redevelopment, including the £220m Talbot Gateway project. New hotels, shops and restaurants are planned as part of the seaside town's development. It hopes to attract new businesses as well as up the tourist trade.
The work is set to start in 2011 and will create hundreds of jobs. Around 10 million people visit Blackpool each year.
