Video positions Blackpool as Britain's answer to the French Riviera

LONDON - Blackpool is getting a YouTube makeover to attract tourists and promote it as a sophisticated and glamorous place to visit.

The town is currently undergoing a major redevelopment, including the £220m Talbot Gateway project.

A YouTube film promoting the town has been launched to attract more visitors to the resort. It shows a French woman and her English boyfriend enjoying the town's attractions before ordering Lancashire hot pot in a cafe.

The 90-second-long film, titled Blackpool Je T'aime la Tour, includes images of the town's tower, trams and fairground.

New hotels, shops and restaurants are planned as part of the seaside town's development. It hopes to attract new businesses as well as up the tourist trade.

The work is set to start in 2011 and will create hundreds of jobs. Around 10 million people visit Blackpool each year.
