Visa backs 007 in marketing deal for 'Die Another Day'

LONDON - Visa International has renewed its marketing association with 007 as the credit card group signs up internationally to support the launch of the new James Bond movie, 'Die Another Day'.

Working with its six international regions, Visa will roll out movie-based promotions in a number of countries around the world prior to the release of the film. Since its first partnership with 'Tomorrow Never Dies', Visa has used the unique 007 property as a means of providing global film-based advertising and promotions to its 21,000 member financial institutions.

This will be the third tie-in with 007. Visa previously partnered with MGM on the last two Bond movies, 'The World is not Enough' (1999) and 'Tomorrow Never Dies' (1997). The new movie is due for release on November 22.

With the 'Tomorrow Never Dies' partnership, Visa promoted the film to more than 6m cardholders in more than 10 countries around the world. 'The World is not Enough', was promoted to 8m Visa cardholders in 19 countries.

Tom Shepard, executive vice-president of international marketing partnerships and sponsorship for Visa International, said: "The global acceptance and impact of the Bond movies combine to present a unique opportunity to leverage our brand strength and create promotions and special programmes for our members and their cardholders worldwide."

'Die Another Day' stars Pierce Brosnan, reprising his role as James Bond for the fourth time after 'GoldenEye', 'Tomorrow Never Dies' and 'The World is not Enough'. Halle Berry, this year's Oscar-winner for best actress, co-stars as Jinx.

The film is directed by Lee Tamahori and the cast also includes Toby Stephens, Rosamund Pike, Rick Yune, John Cleese and Dame Judi Dench. Madonna is composing and performing the title song. With a screenplay by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, the film is shooting in locations around the world, including Iceland, Hawaii, Spain and the UK.
