Lloyd, who was one of a handful of staff given the axe from Global Radio earlier this month, will take up the position immediately.
Before joining talk station LBC, Lloyd ran Chrysalis’s Galaxy network, during which time Galaxy Yorkshire won the Sony Gold station award.
Chrysalis Radio was bought by investment firm Global Radio for £170m in June, under the chairmanship of former ITV chief executive Charles Allen.
Last week it was announced that the company’s three brand manager roles had been made redundant, which saw the departure of Heart managing director Barnaby Dawe and Galaxy’s Martyn Healy, as well as Heart’s programme director Francis Currie.
Former chief executive Paul Jackson previously covered the programme director role at Virgin. Jackson worked at the station for five years before being promoted in January this year, following the departure of Fru Hazlitt to GCap Media.
At the beginning of September, Jackson also defected to become managing director of Capital 95.8.
