The cable company's revenues rose 1.3% to £953 million after the average revenue per user (ARPU) for customers on its cable network reached their highest point yet at £44.24 per month.
In the third quarter last year Virgin Media made a net loss of £122.7 million, but this was reduced to £60 million by more favourable currency movements.

The company's strategy of offering TV, broadband and fixed and mobile phone contracts is going well, according to chief executive Neil Berkett.
Berkett said: "Our triple-play penetration is at record levels and over 10% of our customers now take all four services from us. Our focus remains on attracting high value customers, who buy more from us and stay with us longer.
"This strategy has led to the second successive quarter of record ARPU and strong consumer revenue growth."
Virgin Media's results follow , which added 94,000 subscribers during the third quarter and increased pre-tax profits by 40% to £180 million.
