The Virgin Media Games Space will offer gamers a glimpse of the future and help wannabe developers as part of the free pop-up, which will run until 21 September. It will be powered by the company's superfast broadband.

Visitors will be able to take part in a series of workshops, listen to industry talks and play on the latest games including Sony’s Beyond Two Souls and Tearaway.

Attendees will also have the chance to try out the latest in virtual reality gaming from Oculus Rift as well as indie game titles such as Super Pole Riders, There Shall be Lancing and Krautscape, which have yet to be released on to the market.

Richard Larcombe, director of advertising and sponsorship at Virgin Media, said: "This is going to be a unique place for people to use who’ve got the same passion for gaming we have. Whether it’s to debate, develop, or push the boundaries of new technologies, the Virgin Media Games Space will provide something for everyone no matter their gaming abilities."

Over the next four weeks, European gaming and technology professionals will join together to build DIY arcade machines and games as part of the Arcade Jam event.

Lifelites, a children’s hospice charity, is also set to work with London Southbank University students on 31 August to test and develop new games for children with limited mobility as part of the pop-up event.

David Hayward, games curator and event producer, said: "It's immensely exciting that London is getting its first game space, and I'm very pleased to be curating it. Games are such a diverse thing now, and I think Virgin Media Games Space will be an excellent way of supporting that."

Gaming enthusiasts will also be able to get a taste of the pop-up space at the Eurogamer Expo, which will take place between 26 and 29 September at Earls Court.
