
The newly-created role has been introduced to develop Virgin Media's music strategy and design new services to consumers, across mobile, TV and online.
Wheeler joins Virgin Media after two years at Orange UK. He led Orange's content partnerships, personalisation and acquisition activity. Working with product and marketing teams, he delivered commercially successful music and film services across all platforms as well as negotiating contracts, both locally and globally, with UK music providers, record labels, artists, film studios and distributors.
Prior to Orange, Wheeler spent five years at Sanctuary Music Group where he was vice president of digital business development.
Virgin Media recently streamlined its marketing department, deciding not to replace Lisa McCormack as director of acquisitions. At the time a spokesperson said the company was ‘looking to build on its digital offering'.
