Virgin adds Tim Lovejoy show to podcasting line-up

LONDON – Virgin Radio is continuing to embrace podcasting as it makes 'The Tim Lovejoy Show' available for download, adding to its already available breakfast show.

The sponsor of the show, Nivea for Men, has taken solus ad slots on the podcasts, which contain parts of the Sunday afternoon show. Lovejoy recently signed to the station and is also known for presenting Sky Sports' 'Soccer AM' Saturday morning show.

The podcasts do not include songs for copyright reasons, but the show includes a lot of spoken word content, including interviews with celebrities from the worlds of sport, music and entertainment.

According to Virgin Radio, 'The Pete & Geoff Breakfast Show' podcast has been getting 85,000 downloads every month since it was launched in March.

James Cridland, head of strategic development for new media at Virgin Radio, said: "Building on this success and the popularity of the medium, we are pleased to be offering another high-profile programme to podders so that the listener really is in control of when they listen to their favourite shows. The advertising interest in sponsoring the podcast is just another endorsement of the potential we're opening up."

In addition, Virgin has secured Nokia as sponsor of its download chart, the Online Music Chart Show, for the next 12 months.
