The former Mean Fiddler boss is looking to raise £6.5m to take 100% ownership of the Hop Farm Festival in Kent and Benicassim in Spain. He currently has shares in both.

He also plans to "wholly own" the rights to new Irish festival, Feis, taking place in Finsbury Park this weekend (18-19 June), and two other brand new festivals – a classical music event and a pop music event – both to be located in the South East of England.

Power told BBC News: "Live events are in my blood, so when I sold Mean Fiddler, people thought I'd do something else. But I'm driven by ideas and love organising stuff… it's still a challenge."

"But that’s not the only reason. I'm a competitive person. When you come out of a big organisation like Mean Fiddler you're stripped down – apart from your knowledge."

Former New Order lead singer Bernard Sumner was a director at Music Festivals, but his appointment was terminated in January.

Power’s music promotions and pubs business Vince Power Music Group (VPMG) went into administration last year.
