Victorian shopping beats freezing celebs

BBC One's new documentary series 'Turn Back Time: The High Street' was the most watched show at 9pm last night with 5.4 million viewers, according to unofficial overnight figures.

The programme follows a group of people trying to live as Victorian shopkeepers, in the same mould as ‘The 1900 House’, and had an average of 5.36 million viewers, a 21.9% share of the TV watching audience.

The final episode of the Arctic-based I’m a Celebrity… style show, ‘71 Degrees North’, which saw ‘Hollyoaks’ actor Marcus Patrick crowned champion, had an average audience of 3.52 million, a 14.4% share of the TV watching audience.

Elsewhere, Channel Five’s latest episode of ‘CSI: Miami’ had an average audience of 1.9 million between 9pm and 10pm, a 7.9% share of the TV watching audience, beating comedy on BBC Two and Gordon Ramsay on Channel 4.

One hour before starring as a judge in ‘Turn Back Time: The High Street’, fruit and veg man Greg Wallace, with the help of three Michelin star chef Michel Roux, crowned the winner of ‘Masterchef: The Professionals’.

Between 8pm and 9pm an average of 3.71 million people watched ‘Masterchef: The Professionals’ on BBC Two, which culminated with Claire Lara becoming the series’ first female winner, with a 15.1% share of the TV watching audience.
