Vick will be succeeded by Michael Dolan, chairman and CEO of Young & Rubicam Inc, the group holding company of the WPP Group-owned advertising agency.
Dolan will step down from his position on the board of WPP to focus on the agency. He joined the agency group in 1996 as chief financial officer and vice-chairman. In January 2001, he was named chairman and CEO of the Y&R Group, owner of brands such as Landor, Media Edge and the Burson-Marsteller PR network.
Vick said of Dolan's appointment, "Y&R Advertising is in excellent hands. Mike's a smart guy and a good guy."
Y&R has also named Peter Georgescu, chairman emeritus, as a senior adviser to assist Dolan in the day-to-day running of the business.
Vick was at Y&R for nearly 10 years, during which time the agency won clients including Colgate-Palmolive and AT&T. More recently, however, it has lost several major accounts, including United Airlines and Tricon Restaurants, which owns Pizza Hut and KFC.
