Veterans group speaks directly to Trump with powerful ad on 'Morning Joe'

VoteVets, political comms agency GMMB and a disabled soldier call out the President by name.

It can be tough to get the new President’s attention, particularly considering nobody picks up the phone at the White House these days. But Donald J. Trump does watch morning TV. So VoteVets, a self-described "progressive" veterans’ group, ran an ad during MSNBC’s "Morning Joe," reportedly one of Trump’s favorite shows. The 30-second spot is from GMMB, a DC-based comms agency that worked on Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign and Clinton's 2016 presidential run. In the VoteVets spot, a veteran who lost a leg in Afghanistan slowly lifts weights in his garage, as his voiceover addresses the commander-in-chief, criticizing his immigration ban and plans to repeal Obamacare. While there are currently no plans to expand the ad into a series, VoteVets isn’t ruling it out.
