DDB won the creative account consolidation following a competitive pitch against Lowe, TBWA, Saatchi & Saatchi and Euro RSCG. The incumbents on the account were Lowe Brindfors, McCann Erickson and Amsterdam-based N=5.

DDB will begin work from 1 April and handle the business out of DDB Stockholm with hubs in Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Poland and the UK.

Vattenfall has also moved its media account from OMD to IUM, the Nordic media agency that combines Interpublic Group's two networks Initiative and Universal McCann.

Vattenfall AB communications director Elizabeth Ström said: "Our business was split between several leading firms and we have now decided to consolidate in a partnership with DDB and IUM. They are our new partners in creating an international brand with a European focus, and will strengthen cooperation between the various markets and centralise our communications."

Pietro Tramontin, DDB Europe chief executive, said: "I am very proud of the collaboration, creativity and cultural insights from our network, which came together to convert this opportunity into a brilliant alliance."
