USPS bypasses Santa to deliver a hippo for Christmas

A 1953 holiday song enjoys a revival in a holiday ad for the postal service.

Parents know this scenario all too well: Their child sees an animal, falls in love with it and then wants one at home. In this United States Postal Service spot from McCann NY, a young girl becomes infatuated with hippos after seeing one at the zoo. To the tune of Gayla Peevey's "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas," her parents scramble to order hippo items from Etsy, Bed Bath and Beyond, and World Wildlife Fund before Dec. 25, and USPS delivers. The campaign, which spans TV, print, radio, digital and social media, launches today and runs until Christmas.
