The Eisteddfod is one of the biggest youth festivals in Europe, attracting 100,000 visitors.

Young people under 25 who are members of the Urdd youth movement compete in activities like dance, singing and recitation.

Regional heats take place throughout Wales and will be joined for the first time by an Eisteddfod ‘knockout round’ at a chapel near the Barbican on 17 March.

Urdd Eisteddfod communications director Non Tudur told Event: "We’ve seen more and more people outside Wales competing. Previously there was a round in Cardiff for members who lived outside Wales, but we hope to increase numbers by moving to London."

She hopes more than 100 competitors will attend the London Eisteddfod.

The winners of the London competition will visit the National Eisteddfod in Snowdonia in June 2012. It takes place on 70 acres of land at Coleg Meirion Dwyfor college.
