The five events are The Knitting and Stitching Shows at London's Olympia and Alexandra Palace, as well as those in Dublin and Harrogate, and The Festival of Quilts in Birmingham.

The team from Creative Exhibitions will be based in Upper Street Events' north London offices and it means the company now has 15 consumer shows and one trade event.

Paul Byrom, managing director of Upper Street Events, said: "We are delighted to welcome the team to Upper Street Events. We share similar values, with our focus on passion-led events and these shows have a loyal and broad visitor base.

Andrew Salmon, managing director of Creative Exhibitions added: "After developing these events for more than 20 years we wanted to ensure they continue to flourish. We think the fit with Upper Street is an excellent one, and provides a springboard for new thinking and further growth."
