Universal Music signs three-brand download deal

Universal Music has struck brand partnerships with Lynx, Samsung and Topshop for a music download offer in the run-up to Christmas.

Each partnership will be backed by a dedicated online store where customers can use in-pack and email vouchers to download content. The Lynx offer will feature Christmas packs containing a unique code that consumers can exchange for five downloads from a selection of Universal artists. The tracks will be available on a Lynx-branded website.

A Topshop-branded website will offer customers a free album download if they spend £60 or more in Topman. The albums include a specially created compilation.

Samsung will be offering two music videos on its website with purchases of its video-enabled media players.

The deals, which have been overseen by Universal Music head of business development Mark Krendel, are an important revenue stream for the company, with the brand partners paying the music label to host the downloadable content.
