Unique moves into the research arena

Digital agency Unique Digital has created a data insight team to measure how offline marketing affects online channels.

The team will be led by Rob Webster, who has been hired from AOL-owned behavioural targeting firm Tacoda, where he was head of operations.

Webster's job will be to develop insight tools that cover search implementation and customer analysis, and create a division to house expertise in these areas.

The Syzygy agency has three main insight tools: Sempro, which aids the agency's search implementation, Adgrab, its competitive monitoring system, and Darwin, the agency's customer analysis tool.

The creation of a data and insight division is Unique Digital's latest expansion beyond its core search marketing base. The agency now offers online media planning and buying, affiliate marketing and search.

Syzygy has beefed up its team following account wins last year that included Sky, Littlewoods and Harvey Nichols.

Its latest hires include Simona Serena, who has joined as account manager from Zed Media, where she was also an account manager. Natalie Landron has joined as account executive from Yahoo, where she was online editor at Yahoo Search Marketing.

Unique Digital was bought by German marketing group Syzygy, in which WPP holds a 30% stake, in April 2007.
