UK Mail falls short of 3% market share target

LONDON - UK Mail has carved out a 1.8% share of the postal market, falling short of the 3% target it claimed it would reach by 2007.

The annual results of Business Post were released today, and according to the parent company, UK Mail's revenues were £90m, while the postal market was worth £5bn.

The company had aimed for a revenue figure of £150m when it revealed its 2007 target three years ago.

However, UK Mail's performance this year has still been impressive and it also revealed it has won a contract with HSBC to sort its bank statements for delivery.

It has grown revenues by 124% and doubled its operating profit, from £3.2m to £6.4m.

The company was unable to release further details on the HSBC contract, such as the value and extent of the business.
