UBM profits surge as exhibition recovery continues

UBM posted impressive figures in its latest interim statement, showing an 8% upturn in operating profit in the first nine months of 2010.

Over the same period last year the exhibitions giant recorded £49.6m profit in events, which rose to a healthy £59.8m this year.

Revenue in events also rose, hitting £220m in the first nine months of this year, compared to £200.1m in 2009.

According to the firm forward booking for its top 20 events over the next 12 months are running 16.2% up on last year. The group also said it was on track for a ‘solid’ full year.

David Levin, Chief Executive Officer, UBM said:

"UBM’s continued solid performance over the first nine months of the year puts us firmly on track to meet our expectations for the full year although uncertainties over the wider economic environment remain," said UBM chief executive officer David Levin.

"I am pleased to report organic top line growth in our core businesses. Our events continue to trade strongly, particularly in China, Brazil and India but with good performances too from our event franchises in the US and Europe."
