UBM has acquired five exhibitions from South East Asia and instigated a small name change to clarify its business model.

UBM will now be officially know as UBM plc, to reflect the fact it is a listed company.

On the acquisition front the exhibition giant is now the owner of AMB exhibitions, which runs five trade shows is South East Asia and has an additional four planned by the end of this year. The majority of AMB’s exhibitions are in Malaysia, but the new ones will expand UBM into the Philippines and Vietnam as well.

"The acquisition of AMB accelerates the expansion of UBM’s exhibition business into South East Asia," said UBM Asia president Jimé Essink.

"UBM has existing interests in the core industries served by AMB’s shows and complementary footprints in three of the region’s fastest growing economies – the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam – as well as successful operations in Thailand and Singapore."
