The celebrity chef will also work with senior executives at cross-Channel ferry operator LD Lines and cinema chain Cineworld in an attempt to raise their gastronomic standards.

His efforts will be chronicled in a five-part Channel 4 series to be broadcast later this year.

Blumenthal, who owns Michelin-starred restaurant The Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire, appeared in a similar series early last year.

In 'Big Chef, Little Chef', he was commissioned to overhaul the format and menu for the struggling roadside restaurant chain's outlet on the A303 at Popham, near Basingstoke in Hampshire.

A spokeswoman for Channel 4 confirmed that the broadcaster is working on a series with Blumenthal, but would say only that it remains "a work in progress".
