Turner Classic Movie launches second channel on Sky

LONDON – Turner Classic Movie is to launch a second channel on Sky on May 2 called TCM2, featuring movies classics such as 'The Wizard of Oz'.

The new channel, which will sit alongside Turner Classic Movies in the channel ordering, will broadcast from 7pm to 3am daily.

It will feature films from Hollywood's golden age to contemporary classics. These will also include movies such as 'North By Northwest', 'The Maltese Falcon', 'Dr Zhivago' and 'Casablanca'.

In addition, the new channel will also include originally produced content and new approach to scheduling, which will see the same movies repeated three to four nights a week for the first four months.

Turner said it was introducing the approach to give viewers every opportunity to watch its movies.

The launch will be supported by a marketing campaign, developed by US-based design agency Fuel.

Alan Musa, TCM vice-president, said: "TCM will continue to show some of these classic favourites but we can now expand and develop.

"By introducing new documentaries, more contemporary classics and international films we can ensure that there is always something new for our viewers to experience on TCM, while they can find a guaranteed favourite on TCM2."
