Turkey of the week: Marks & Spencer's 'Markle & Sparkle' was a royal fail

As delighted as I was for the married couple at the wedding, there’s always something a little bit tacky – and obvious – when brands try and hitch themselves to such an event. Perhaps it’s because they struggle to create cultural events of their own?

Anyway, M&S was probably the worst offender after rebadging some of its fascias as Markle & Sparkle. Bleurgh. It’s almost as grim as its rebranding of its roast chicken sandwich range as "The Proposal" to mark the fact that Prince Harry apparently popped the question over a roast chicken dinner.

Brand: Marks & Spencer
Agency: In-house
