Trout had previously been appointed to the position of deputy magazines sales director in October 2004 before transferring to head up digital advertising sales for the Emap Performance, after it had restructured the division, axing 11 roles in April this year.
Emap Performance handles Emap's online, mobile, interactive TV and radio properties. Trout had overseen digital sales for brands including radio stations Kiss, Magic, and TV stations Kerrang! and The Box. The division announced it would launch a web-based spin-off to its Heat celebrity title earlier this month.
Barker has left the UK operations of Emap after 13 years, and had held several senior roles at the publisher including executive publishing director at Emap Elan, where she was involved in the acquisition of Top Sante and launched Pregnancy & Birth.
In 2000, Barker then became managing director of Emap Esprit, which publishes Yours, Mother & Baby and Slimming. She joined Emap Advertising in 2004.
She succeeded Rob Munro-Hall, who was appointed as managing director of FHM in the UK, Emap Metro and Emap East last month.
Marcus Rich , Emap Advertising managing director, said: "Jason held the position of deputy magazine sales director before taking up the role of director of digital sales eight months ago. His digital experience will be invaluable in his new role as Emap continues to seek the best configuration of its' brands across emerging platforms to ensure that we continue to deliver deeper and more effective consumer engagement to advertisers."
Trout said: "Emap has the most innovative magazine business in the UK with the most famous brands and an award-winning sales team. I am very excited to be taking over the role of magazine sales director and look forward to working with the excellent senior management team already in place across our magazine markets."
