Publicis Chemistry has promoted managing partner Mike Welsh to the position of chief executive as part of a management restructure that also sees the departure of the managing director, Jason Foo. Welsh's appointment follows the departure of Joe Garton, the chief executive, and the chief operating officer, Diane Charlton, last month, 16 months after the agency they co-founded, Chemistry, was acquired by Publicis Groupe. Fetch Media, the mobile agency, has brought in Bigmouthmedia founder Steve Leach in the newly created role of chairman. He will work alongside Fetch co-founder and managing director James Connelly and co-founder Declan Reddington. Leach left Bigmouthmedia in 2010 following its merger with LBi International. ()
Mail Newspapers group advertising director John Teal is to leave the newspaper publisher in the autumn after 25 years. Teal is leaving the publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday in September this year and will be replaced by Rosemary Goreman, deputy group advertising director. ()
Initiative has hired Marc Bresseel, vice president of global marketing at Microsoft Advertising, as president of its G14 region, which includes the UK. Bressee joins in September and will be based at Initiative's London office. He replaces Eric Bader. ()
MEC has appointed Caroline Banquet, formerly brand manager at Unilever margarine Flora pro.activ, as its new communications director for Danone and Complan, replacing Julia Guest. Banquet has been tasked with delivering innovative and cost-effective communications plans for Danone dairy products, including Activia and Actimel, and Complan nutrition products. ()
Sly Bailey is leaving her role as chief executive of Trinity Mirror six months earlier than expected, the company announced last Friday (15 June). She left with immediate effect. Trinity Mirror said it was "progressing" with its search for her replacement and was working with headhunter Egon Zehnder International. ()
Manning Gottlieb OMD has appointed OMD UK's strategy director Hayley Spence as its first head of search, following the promotion of Mark Mitchell to head of search across Omnicom Media Group. In her new role Spence will have responsibility for Manning Gottlieb's growing search operation, across search engine optimisation and pay per click. ()
Future, the magazine publisher, has appointed Simon Wainwright, T-Mobile's head of future propositions, to the newly created role of market research director. Wainwright will be responsible for the UK-based market research unit, developing audience and retail insights. He will report to Richard Spilsbury, strategic planning and development director. ()
Jazz FM has hired its former managing director Carter Tanner to take up the new role of managing director of Jazz FM radio, to work alongside Yoel Kenan who will take the role of managing director of Jazz FM Enterprises. He has been brought in with a specific brief to maintain and expand the Jazz FM radio business. Tanner was managing director of Jazz FM when Guardian Media Group owned it. ()
As part of a restructure of its commercial team (and following the departure of Simon Kilby) Guardian Media Group has promoted Mark Finney to the role of sales director and Tim Gentry has been promoted to revenue director. Facebook's chief technology officer, Bret Taylor, is leaving the newly public company to launch an unnamed start-up with Google App Engine founder Kevin Gibbs. Facebook executives Mike Vernal and Cory Ondrejka, who work under Taylor, will be in charge of platform and mobile respectively. ()
