Steve Jobs departure from Apple stole the headlines this week, but there were a number of high profile moves across the industry that shouldn't be missed in BR's round-up of this week's people moves in advertising, marketing and media.

Tom Morton, the former chief strategy officer of Publicis Group UK, is to join Euro RSCG New York in the same role, replacing Michael Fanuele who left in January. Morton left Publicis Group UK to move to the US with his wife Sarah Watson, who resigned as head of planning at DDB UK in May to become chief strategy officer of Bartle Bogle Hegarty in New York. Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam has appointed Richard Oldfield, the global head of content and partnerships at Aegis Media, to the newly created role of connections planner. He will work closely with W&K Amsterdam's head of planning, Martin Weigel, and form part of the agency's strategic management team. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)  

Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO has hired the Ogilvy & Mather New York global creative directors John LaMacchia and Simon Foster. The team will work as senior creatives across a range of accounts at the agency, reporting to the executive creative director, Paul Brazier. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)  

Marketing  

 

William Hill has appointed Fiona Stevenson as its first head of mobile marketing. Stevenson joins from EA Mobile, where she was product marketing director. She will report directly to at William Hill. ()  

RBS is seeking a lead marketer for its retail banking operation, including the RBS and NatWest high-street chains, following the latest senior departure from the company. Richard Cole, RBS' interim head of marketing and director of customer strategy and marketing planning, is to move on to join Ladbrokes in October. ()  

Ben Padley, Sony Ericsson's vice-president, global head of digital marketing and CRM, will join Barclaycard as its first global customer engagement director in October. He will report directly to Nina Bibby, Barclaycard's global chief marketing officer. ()  

Microsoft UK has parted ways with Mikah Martin-Cruz, chief marketing officer for its defunct consumer and online division, and Alison Masters, central marketing group director. It is not known whether Martin-Cruz or Masters have jobs to go to. ()  

Paul Say, First Direct head of marketing, is to leave the HSBC-owned bank. Say, who also operated as head of direct marketing for the wider HSBC business, is not believed to have another role to move to. He will be replaced in the interim across both roles by Davnet Reid, First Direct head of customer marketing. ()  

Tim Cook has taken control of Apple after co-founder Steve Jobs resigned as chief executive. Jobs, who co-founded Apple in 1976, is to become chairman of the tech company, while chief operating officer Cook is to become his successor. ()  

Media  

 

Mindshare has hired Simon Mathews and Ollie Joyce, the founding partners of Polestar Communications (previously Rise), as global client leaders. Mathews is a former managing director of Optimedia UK, while Joyce, was general manager of ZenithOptimedia. Both will report to Nick Emery, the leader of Mindshare Worldwide. Polestar will now close. Aegis Media has appointed MEC’s Cormac Loughran to the new role of Aegis Media UK new-business and marketing director. Loughran will work across the Aegis brands Carat, Vizeum, Glue Isobar and iProspect and report to Rob Horler, Aegis Media's UK chief executive. Aegis has also promoted Helen Adcock to the post of Carat UK new-business and marketing director. Adcock will report to Carat's managing director, Tracy De Groose. (±±¾©Èü³µpk10)
