Wood's imminent arrival follows last week's news that Diffiniti's managing director, Rob Horler, is to become the new managing director of Aegis' largest agency, Carat.
According to sources, Wood is expected to take the helm at Diffiniti "within the next six weeks". No one from Aegis was available to comment as Media Week went to press.
Wood would not confirm his new position and stressed that he is "already in the middle of a very challenging role". During his time at TradeDoubler, he has focused on broadening the company's performance-based offering, including the ad networks and pay-per-call product areas, as well as trying to maintain its lead position within the affiliate marketing industry.
The digital leader is no stranger to Aegis, having already worked for the group for three years. He first joined as joint managing director of Carat Digital in August 2005 before moving internally in January 2007 to take on the role of managing partner at Aegis Media's other agency, Vizeum.
In his new role, he will be responsible for managing 100 staff working for clients that include Sky, Aviva, Auto Trader and Adidas.
Diffiniti rebranded from Carat Interactive in 2004 and is part of Isobar, the global network that aligns all of Aegis's digital and one-to-one assets under a single umbrella brand.
The objective was to create a stand-alone digital communications agency that focused on the full spectrum of associated services.
In the UK, Isobar incorporates creative agencies Glue and De-construct, as well as sister media agencies Carat Digital and Vizeum.
