Toyota becomes first brand to appear in Monopoly Millionaires

Toyota has signed a deal with Electronic Arts, the video games publisher, that will allow it to place branded virtual gift items into Hasbro's Monopoly Millionaires Facebook game.

Players can purchase the Toyota Prius and Toyota Prius Eco-Greenhouse cars as virtual gifts using Facebook credits and give them to friends playing Monopoly Millionaires.

The automotive manufacturer is the first brand to feature on Monopoly Millionaires, the free-to-play social gaming version of the classic Monopolly game that launched in February.

Kim Kyaw, senior media strategist for Toyota, said: "The Toyota in-game experience allows us to tap into consumers’ memories of Hasbro’s iconic Monopoly game while broadening the reach and appeal of Prius to all ages and lifestyles."

According to EA, which produces the game under license from Hasbro, Monopoly Millionaires recorded a 472% increase in the number of players between 1 March to 1 April.

In October last year, Toyota created an online film to showcase the Hybrid technology available inside its Auris hatchback car.
