Tourism Australia unveils shortlist for creative and media

LONDON - Tourism Australia has selected seven agencies, including incumbent M&C Saatchi, for its £85m global creative account shortlist, while Carat and MPG will battle it out for the media account.

Clemenger BBDO, DDB Worldwide, M&C Saatchi, Publicis Mojo, Saatchi & Saatchi, Singleton Ogilvy & Mather and Whybin TBWA, are the seven agencies in the running for the creative account.

M&C Saatchi, the creative incumbent, conceived the current controversial "Where the bloody hell are you?" ad campaign.

The tenders for Tourism Australia's global creative and media services began in February, with existing contacts with incumbent agencies M&C Saatchi and Carat reaching the end of their term on June 30.

Geoff Buckley, Tourism Australia managing director, said that Tourism Australia would now embark on the next stage of the tender process with a view to announcing the successful candidates in the next few months.

He said: "Due to the number and high standard of short-listed submissions, we anticipate that the next stage of the tender evaluations for creative services will take around three months, while the media services process should be completed within a shorter timeframe."
