Total Media wins HarperCollins business

LONDON - Total Media, the independent media agency, has won back book publisher HarperCollins's £1.4m media-planning and buying account from incumbent Mediaedge:CIA, following a two-way pitch.

Total Media last held the HarperCollins business seven years ago, but lost it to the Young & Rubicam media unit. The account will be headed by board director Annemarie White with Amanda Carter as senior account manager.

The pitch was conducted by HarperCollins marketing director Alaistair Giles before Christmas. According to MMS, the publisher's media spend in 2001 was £1.4m.

The publishers key authors include Tony Parsons, JG Ballard and JRR Tolkien.

The win will help strengthen Total Media's arts and publishing sector, which includes clients Penguin Books, Random House and the Tate Galleries.
