ToLuna increases German presence with Speedfacts acquisition

LONDON – European online panel provider ToLuna has bought its German rival Speedfacts for £2m.

Frankfurt-based Speedfacts was founded in 2000 by Boris Von Heesen and provides panels for online surveys in the region.

Under the merger, Speedfacts 57,000 panellists will be added to ToLuna's pool of more than 750,000 respondents. ToLuna will operate out of Speedfacts' Frankfurt offices.

Von Heesen will remain as managing director and ToLuna plans to take on additional staff for the new operation.

Frederic-Charles Petit, chief executive of ToLuna, said: "This acquisition gets the new year off to a flying start for ToLuna. Apart from being immediately positive for earnings, it is a big step in our strategy of covering the major European markets."

In addition, ToLuna has entered into a five-year deal with Freenet, one of Germany's leading online service providers, which will ensure Freenet's 7m registered members can be recruited for ToLuna's online panels.
