Oktoberfest London was due to take place at east London venue Tobacco Dock from 8 October until 11 October. However the decision was taken to after just one day.
Tobacco Dock later explained on its website that the decision to cancel the event was due to a failure to implement the venue’s operational and safety guidelines.
The venue said in its own statement on Wednesday (14 October): "Once again we would like to express how very sorry we are for any inconvenience caused by the cancellation of Oktoberfest London by the organisers, Oktoberfest UK. We are committed to helping you obtain refunds and have been advised that the point of purchase for your tickets should be you first point of contact."
However Oktoberfest UK has disputed this, claiming the decision to cancel the event was made by "the venue, Tobacco Dock", and would not be refunding tickets until it reviews its situation legally.
It stated: "Oktoberfest London is currently in the process of reviewing its legal position. Until this review and any legal steps taken thereafter have been concluded, Oktoberfest London will not be able to comment further on this matter or process any refunds to ticket holders.
"Ticket holders are requested to keep hold of their tickets, and further information regarding refunds will be provided in due course."
