Free travellers' publication TNT magazine is revamping its online
presence with a new site (www.tntmagazine.com), which goes live this
week.
The site will be promoted using a viral email, which will be sent out to
the company's 3,500-strong newsletter database. The email will include a
survey asking travellers from overseas currently in the UK if they have
become a 'pom'.
Agency Basis Design has built message boards for the site to enable
travellers to exchange information. An extensive job area will be
extended in the future to include opportunities in a variety of
countries.
The site's travel guides and resources sections are also set to grow,
with flights, hotels, hostels, visas, insurance and freight services
listed alongside links to sports and news sites in Commonwealth
countries.
TNT Group, which is part of Trader Media, is looking at integrating the
UK site with its Australian offering and with other country
versions.
"The biggest direction of the travellers we target is people from
Commonwealth counties coming into the UK," explained Alistair Simmonds,
web editor at TNT Group. "Through the web, we can open up to other
markets, which magazines can't really do without having an office
there."
He added that an affiliate scheme is to be included, with possible links
to local information sites such as MyVillage or UpMyStreet. The company
is looking at the possibility of linking up with an international calls
company to promote its job section by offering vouchers to users who
register their CV with the site.
