Thunderbirds are go in Mini Babybel on-pack push

LONDON - Mini Babybel is teaming up with Universal Pictures' and Working Title Films' summer blockbuster 'Thunderbirds' in an on-pack push and licensing deal to promote the new film.

The campaign, through SMP, features a special offer inside the cheese nets of two Mini Babybel Cheddar and Family Pack lines from July to September.

It is to be promoted in-store on merchandising trays, with each promotional net containing two free magnets with a choice of three stickers depicting either key characters, a hologram or a Thunderbirds vehicle. There are six sets of three stickers to collect.

SMP said that the film was a particularly relevant licence for Babybel.

Lee Smith, product manager at Bell UK, said: "'Thunderbirds'' target audience is a great fit for our consumer profile -- it's exciting for kids yet also has the endorsement of adults who remember the series fondly from their youth."

The film, which is due to premiere in July, is a live鈥揳ction feature film based on the cult UK TV series of the 60s created by Gerry Anderson, which follows the perilous exploits of the Tracy family. It is directed by 'Star Trek: The Next Generation''s Jonathan Frakes, who as well as starring as Will Riker also directed 'Star Trek: First Contact', 'Star Trek: Insurrection' and 'Clockstoppers'. The movie was shot in the Seychelles and the UK.
