The new show will feature Great British Bake Off judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, and is billed as the first live event dedicated to the world of cakes, breads and the art of baking.
Berry and Hollywood will be at the two-day show, which is expected to attract a mix of trade and consumer visitors. There will be live demonstrations by celebrity speakers, hands-on skills classes on sugar crafts and bread making, workshops, market stalls, competitions and an English tea room created to support the charity Macmillan Cancer.
Adam Aston, director of exhibitions at Thorns Group, said the supplier was faced with some unusual challenges to create the right furniture look for the different show features – from blending candy stripped tasting tables into the edible beach scene, to retro furniture in a American 50’s-style kitchen.
"It’s fantastic to be part of a new and exciting show," he said, "it’s going to look amazing. We wish the organisers luck and are really pleased to have supported what looks too be a great launch event."
Sarah Traynor, managing director of Quantum Media - the operations and project support team on the event - said: "We are very used to creating large-scale features for a number of shows. With Cake & Bake we are pushing the boundaries as we’re blurring the lines between show features and exhibitor stands. We have worked on behalf of the organiser but also directly with exhibitors to create complex stands with tailored content to deliver a series of great interactive visitor experiences. Thorns has been really supportive in meeting our sometimes less than orthodox briefs."
