The Thomson database is licensed wholesale to a range of industries and organisations including directory enquiries companies, and Pelling will take responsibility for all commercial licensing relationships.
Pelling has been working within Thomson for more than 20 years, most recently as senior national account director within the national sales division, where he worked on developing business with Thomson's blue-chip clients.
Pelling said: "Developing and growing our relationship with licensees will be my key role and it is one I am greatly looking forward to. With over 2m listings, the Thomson Directories business database is recognised as one of the most valuable in the UK."
Thomson is second in the directories market after sector leader Yell, which owns Yellow Pages.
