Tesco targets WH Smith in price-comparison ads

LONDON - Tesco has launched a price-comparison campaign which targets WH Smith instead of one of its rival supermarkets as is its normal practice.

Tesco targets WH Smith in price-comparison ads

Advertising which appears in national newspaper as well as across outdoor sites compares the prices of stationary items such as Berol pens, Tipp-Ex and Pritt Stick. The strapline in the press campaign reads ‘Always Do Your Homework'.

Other ads, which do not carry rival price comparison, focus on school clothes and computer equipment.

Both the stationary and clothing ads also illustrate that consumers can ‘double-up' on Clubcard points in the catergories.
