Tesco rolls out recycling machines

LONDON - Tesco is rolling out automated recycling machines which offer ClubCard points outside its stores, as it seeks to boost its environmental credentials.

Tesco rolls out recycling machines

The machines will offer consumers one ClubCard point for every four pieces of plastic, glass and metal to be recycled. Tesco plans to have 100 of the automated machines in place by the end of 2009.

The installation follows a range of ‘green’ ClubCard initiatives stemming back to the offer of points to customers who use old bags.

Tesco trialled the first machine in late 2006 at its Cheshunt stores, close to its head office.
